San Diego county real estate
City: National City
National City, the second oldest city in San Diego county, is
described as a place of contradictions - meticulously restored
Victorian homes and over 1,000 units of low-income housing and
an economy heavily dependent on Navy and civilian employees at
nearby 32nd Street Naval Station. But city management has begun
redevelopment of the communities commercial zone.
National City's Mile of Cars, the single largest source of sale-tax
revenue, has undergone a facelift complete that includes a planting
of 70 Mexican fan palm trees down the median of the boulevard.
The area has a strong industrial base, wood products, machine
equipment, and marine cables are produced in National City. Housing
options range from small residential communities, like Lincoln
Acres, an unincorporated part of the county to big, new single
family-homes in the south and east of this community with wide,
clean streets.
Good choice for first-time homeowners, easy access to downtown
San Diego, Plaza Bonita and South Bay Plaza shopping centers,
hotels, parks and recreational centers. Nearby communities include
Chula Vista, Paradise Hills and Southcrest. ZIP Code: 91950. Population:
57,211. Median income: $23,783.
